The power of romance is in "The Preservation of Love". He enfolds her with his body, protecting her from the rest of the world. His affection is not jealous, but rather seeks to shield forever the soft part of her that draws him. She considers her blue rose – all her love, life and hope – and gives him another in exchange for the security of his arm. He holds it tenderly, all his strength reduced to a tiny tremble in his fingertips. He is in awe of a feeling more powerful than he is. |
