After he has wooed her in their "Romance with Guitar," she considers whether to give him her pomegranate. It is the fruit of herself Ð it represents her most private thoughts and emotions, as well as her womanly fertility. The two of them consider a romantic exchange, fruit for fruit. Both man and woman hold their pomegranates in their hands, each of them a reflection of the other, and look in the direction of their future.
