When "The Traveler" returns home after a long trip, he offers his lover the blue roses in consolation for his absence. Angry, the woman offers only her cheek for a quick kiss. Still, both lovers smile a little at their reunion, happy to be together again. The artist displays the selfish tension common to many relationships: lovers eager to forgive, but reluctant to lose face in the negotiation. |
